Journey of an Iceberg

We have visited Greenland twice since the turn of the century. During the first visit, we were so moved by the melting glaciers in the waters near Nuuk, and even more moved by sound of their last days before death, that we wanted to attempt to share this extraordinary experience with others who are concerned about global warming.

We then decided that this would best be communicated linking the sounds and images with music. Originally, the plan was to link these with bespoke music composed specifically to match the sounds/notes of the ice breakages/water melting from the dying icebergs.

During the summer of 2010, we returned to Ilulissat with our youngest son to video these sounds (which have yet to be converted to a film).

As an interim measure, and to share at a private event during summer 2012 with influential people, that we decided to combine striking photographs of dying icebergs with Maria Callas' La Momma Morta (approved by Bruno Tosi before his 2012 death) to produce this short video clip.
